In England, as part of the British Rail Modernization Plan of the late 1950's, it was decided to introduce five diesel-electric train sets for premium business services on the London Midland and Western Regions. Known as the "Blue Pullmans" they were to provide luxurious interiors; the two Midland Pullman trains having first class accommodations only.
Three (3) color archive films are included in this 60 minute NTSC/VHS (US Compatible) format video, imported from England. The professionally produced films from the 1960's included in this compilation show the construction , testing and performance of these rail leaders in technology. Sadly these pullman trains only lasted until 1973, probably mainly due to the extremely bad ride they gave on the Swiss-built bogies. In any case, these films give a wonderful portrayal of developments at the time and are a truly remarkable record.
